Is weight loss on your plate?

Our body, this incredible marvel of nature, is so amazing. Just thinking about it can stress us out. It regulates our blood pressure, the amount of oxygen we need at any specific time, our digestion and elimination process, and all this automatically. We do not pause and think, “OK! Now I need to digest this banana I just ate.” Though we, consciously, do not have any input in most of our bodily functions, the body continuously gives us feedback on its performance. Our body is talking to us all the time.

Bio-Feedback is a living language.

Think of it as your phone beeping to let you know its battery is low, or you have a text that needs your attention. Our body is continuously seeking our attention to making the necessary correction in areas that we do control. So what all these have to do with weight loss? Everything! The accumulation of fat by the body is just a signal to get our attention.

Why have we got this weight loss business so wrong?

First, we want to lose only the extra fat, nothing else. So right off, weight loss is a misnomer.

As human beings, we are in constant interaction with our environment and, these external conditions do have some effect on our holistic health. Numerous researches have found direct correlations of various factors to the accumulation of fat in the body. Some of these factors are physical, nutritional, emotional, lifestyle, social influences, working environment, etc. All these are stressors that, without a doubt, play a role in this rising epidemic. There is a whole industry built around this societal prevalence. From fad diet, scientifically prepared chart, and program, to the miracle supplement, we are ready to jump on that roller coaster for a lifelong ride. Some people do succeed using one of those diets, nutritional supplements, or any other stuff out there. That could be just what their body needed. However, for most of us, we are still on that roller coaster. We are exercising, eating right, focusing on losing those extra pounds, and all the time either blaming ourselves or feeling guilty for not succeeding.

Stop! Time to get off.

In my opinion, most of us are still struggling with shedding those accumulated fats – and I stress fat, as weight is irrelevant (that is for another discussion) – is because we a not holistically approaching this human challenge. If an existing program had a holistic component to it, that piece was either vague; or the resources were not readily available. For instance, meditation may have been part of the strategy. However, how many of us can meditate… you get my point. So let get rid of all that stuff and start over.

It is not your fault!

First thing first, LOVE Ourselves. I know, most of us, when we look in the mirror, we only see the flaws; we notice that bulge of fat or whatever instead of that beautiful perfect human reflecting at us. It can be hard to love ourselves when everybody around us, from our close one to the society at large, tells us we are “ugly”; we do not fit the norm. So how can we love ourselves?

  • Hypnosis can help. Find a good Hypnotherapist or commercially available recording. Diligently listen for at least one month.
  • NLP or Tapping. Find a good practitioner or surf YouTube. Here the right word combination with the tapping is paramount.
  • A Practitioner that can do Subconscious Reprogramming

The second step, find any emotional anchor associated with the weight gain. Because we don’t one day decide to pack up weight. Some may say it the metabolism, which is partially true. The body accumulates weight because there is a bigger reward to do so, even if its health is in jeopardy. The solution is to find that emotional connection and eliminate it.

  • Find a good therapist.
  • Do some self-assessment. There are many tools available; the local library is a good starting point.

In both cases, it can be a lengthy process. As we find the exact cause, its emergence can be painful, thus the drawn-out process for it to surface.

Third, find our triggers and eliminate them. There are specific things, situations, and behaviors that trigger our overindulgence in certain foods. Once the trigger or triggers – there are usually more than one – are identified, we will have to neutralize them. Here is a paid and DIY approach.

  • A good therapist.
  • Self-assessment and journaling, if done daily and over time, a pattern will emerge, and we will identify the trigger.

Once again, it is not a race against time, and we want to identify all the triggers. We do not want any hidden one to sabotage our effort in weight loss.

The last step is to reprogram our subconscious to help our body maintain its ideal weight. The resources that I know of are:

  • A practitioner who does subconscious reprogramming.
  • A good hypnotherapist
  • A hypnotic recording for this specific reprogramming.

Now that we have a solid base to stand on, we can start our weight loss program and, it is more likely to produce the anticipated results. Like in any weight loss program, we are not going to see overnight results. We will have to concede certain things. I believe that each of us can pick a program that will best suit our individual needs. However, any endeavor base on the approach described above is very like to bring better success. With this methodology, we first address all the little saboteurs of any weight loss program. Then we go about the practice of shedding the excess fat. It very is likely that even before starting a weight-loss regiment, we will find ourselves lighter on the scale. We will feel better about ourselves, and it is by far more than half of the battle.
